Ellsworth area residents and business owners were invited to join forces and roll up their sleeves for a unique community planning and designing project. Over the course of 3 days, a team consisting of planning and design professionals volunteered their time to assist us in visualizing the future of our community. These volunteer professionals stayed with host families, embedded in our community, and facilitated a series of public engagement activities. The outcome of the Visit was 20-30 large, hand-drawn illustrations representing the community’s shared vision for the future of Ellsworth.

These illustrations will serve as a starting point for future community planning and development initiatives. In other communities around the state, this process has been successful in inspiring economic, social, beautification, and recreational projects to enhance communities and spark economic growth.
